Mormon Morsels: Gratitude

Image by dan/FreeDigitalPhotos.net

I recently found a quote by Elizabeth Barrett Browning that really spoke to me:

"Earth's crammed with heaven,
  And every common bush afire with God;
  But only he who sees takes off his shoes;
    The rest sit around it and pluck blackberries."

The first thing I thought of was how slow we are to appreciate all that our Heavenly Father has provided for us. The following scripture in Doctrine & Covenants 59:21 states: "And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments”.

We have heard a lot spoken in recent General Conferences about the sin of ingratitude and how important it is to recognize God's hand in our lives and be grateful for what blessings we have, and live worthy to receive and appreciate more of the blessings that are in store for us.

Please take a few moments today and think of the blessings you enjoyed yesterday or what inspiration you received today and then take a knee and give thanks.

  1. Thank you, Mama! :) Great thoughts. Yesterday He gave me other people to watch little one in the foyer so I could sit in fast & testimony mtg w/ Allen, and then bear mine, and watch/listen to Allen bearing his. It was a wonderful mtg filled with sincere testimonies.
